Routine Inspection
Inspect the wire rope before operation for broken wires, corrosion, abrasion, deformation, kinks and abnormal diameter reduction. Pay particular attention to drum, sheave and termination areas.
Maintenance
- Keep the rope clean and apply a compatible lubricant at the specified interval.
- Confirm that drums and sheaves rotate freely and that groove dimensions match the rope.
- Maintain correct reeving, tension and fleet angle to prevent crushing and uneven wear.
Replacement
Remove the rope from service when damage reaches the limits specified by the equipment manufacturer or applicable standard. Installation and replacement shall be performed by qualified personnel with the equipment isolated from power.
